- Division of Nephrology and Endocrinology, The University of Tokyo Hospital
Imari Mimura is a lecturer of the University of Tokyo School of Medicine, Bunkyo-ku, Japan. She completed her medical training at the University of Tokyo Hospital after she graduated the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Medicine in 2011.
Her research focuses on the epigenetic mechanisms of renal fibrosis which is caused by chronic hypoxia. Recently her group published the paper which shows that the inhibitor of histone methylations ameliorates renal tubular fibrosis by reducing open chromatin, resulting in preventing HIF-1 from binding to the enhancer. She continues to perform basic experiments which focus on the molecular mechanisms of AKI-to-CKD transition, especially by clarifying how epigenetic memory including hypoxic memory regulates tubulointerstitial fibrosis in the kidney.
