Kosuke Yamahara is an associate professor in the Division of Diabetology, Endocrinology, and Nephrology, Department of Medicine, Shiga University of Medical Science. He graduated from Shiga University of Medical Science in 2007 and completed his initial training at Shiga University of Medical Science Hospital. In 2009, he started his nephrology training at Shiga University of Medical Science Hospital Nephrology Division. In 2010, he entered graduate school, where his main research topics were regulatory mechanisms of autophagy, dietary restriction's effects on life span extension, etc. After receiving his PhD from Shiga University of Medical Science in 2014, he studied at the Department of Internal Medicine Ⅳ, University of Freiburg, Germany, in 2015, where he researched autophagy in podocytes. I am honored to contribute to deepening academic relations between Europe and Japan through this conference.
