Naoki Nakagawa is Professor and Chair of the Division of Cardiology and Nephrology, Department of Internal Medicine, Asahikawa Medical University, which is northernmost medical university in Japan.
He completed his medical training at Asahikawa Medical University Hospital before travelling to the USA to work as a Research Associate in the Department of Nephrology at University of Washington, Seattle.
His main research interest has been in pathophysiology of kidney diseases, with particular focus on tubulointerstitial fibrosis, and the development of cardiovascular disease in patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). He is also participating national project to develop nation-wide CKD data base (J-CKD-DB) based on electronic health records using ICT technology.
