I graduated from Niigata University School of Medicine in 1990 and began working as a resident and clinical fellow. During graduate school, I researched glomerulonephritis in animal models and earned a Ph.D. in 1997. From 2002 to 2005, I studied human genome variation at the Division of Genomic Diagnosis at the Institute of Medical Science, the University of Tokyo. From 2007 to 2010, I was involved in clinical practice and research on peritoneal dialysis at the Department of Clinical Nephroscience, Niigata University. In 2012, I became a lecturer, and in 2015, an associate professor at the Division of Clinical Nephrology and Rheumatology, Kidney Research Center, Niigata University. My primary contribution to nephrology is genomic and microbiome analysis of glomerulonephritis, such as IgA nephropathy. Since 2018, I have served as a deputy editor of Clinical and Experimental Nephrology and CEN Case Reports, the official journal of the Japanese Society of Nephrology.
