Suguru Yamamoto is an associate professor in the Division of Blood Purification Therapy at Niigata University Medical and Dental Hospital. He completed his medical training at Niigata University Medical and Dental Hospital and earned his PhD from Niigata University. He also worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Vanderbilt University.
His research focuses on CKD-related systemic disorders, including dialysis-related amyloidosis, mineral and bone disorders, cardiovascular disease caused by uremic toxins, and frailty in patients undergoing long-term dialysis treatment. In 2018, he was awarded the Oshima Award by the Japanese Society of Nephrology.
