Yoshihiro Taniyama is a clinical professor of Division of Nephrology, Department of Internal Medicine in Kansai Medical University, Osaka, Japan.
He graduated from Tohoku University School of Medicine in 1994. After finishing clinical training as a resident, he entered Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine and studied about mechanisms of renal Na handling by thiazide-sensitive NaCl cotransporter. Then he moved to Division of Cardiology, Emory University School of Medicine, Georgia, U.S.A., did research about intracellular signaling pathways of angiotensin II to disclose its effects on cellular phenotype.
After coming back to Japan in 2003, he has mainly worked on clinical studies. Currently, he is focusing on how to manage patients with chronic kidney disease and those undergoing renal replacement therapies, especially about blood pressure control.
