Fliser, Danilo

Dr. Fliser is Professor of Medicine at the Saarland University, Director of the Department of Internal Medicine IV?Renal and Hypertensive Diseases, and Spokesman of the Transplant Centre at the Saarland University Medical Centre. He is also Vice-Spokesman of the large research grant on “Cardiovascular Disease in CKD” (SFB-TRR219), supported by the German Research Foundation.
Prof. Fliser´s current research interests are progression of CKD, vascular biology, and cardiovascular complications in patients with CKD. He has authored more than 400 original publications (PubMed), his current Hirsch Factor is 99 (Google Scolar). He serves on the editorial board of national and international nephrology journals, including Die Nephrologie (Managing Editor). He is a member of the Steering Committee of CKDOPPS and contributed to the KDIGO guidelines as well as to the ERBP.
From 2015 to 2018 Prof. Fliser served in the ERA Council as an Ordinary Council Member, and from 2016 to 2019 as the Chair of the Paper Selection Committee for the annual ERA congresses. He was Chair of the Scientific Committee of the 53rd ERA-EDTA annual congress in Vienna in 2016. He was appointed as the Renal Science Chair of the ERA for the period 2018-2025.
