Torra, Roser

Roser Torra is a professor at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona and the President of the European Renal Association (ERA).
Prof. Torra, studied Medicine at the Universitat de Barcelona from 1983 to 1989 and excelled in the MIR tests, ranking 47 out of 25,000. She completed her Nephrology residency at the Hospital Clinic from 1991 to 1994 and has been leading the Inherited Kidney Diseases Unit at the Puigvert Foundation since 2001.
Post-residency, she was awarded fellowships from the Hospital Clinic and the Catalan Government (FPI) from 1994 to 1997. In 1997, she earned the Extraordinary Doctorate Award for her dissertation on Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease. Her research on hereditary kidney disease includes over 200 publications, numerous competitive grants, over 200 conferences, and contributions to national and international books.
She has undertaken international research, including a four-month study at the Mayo Clinic with Dr. Vicente Torres, and has received the Inigo Alvarez de Toledo Nephrology research award twice.
She coordinates the Hereditary Kidney Diseases group for the Spanish Society of Nephrology and its Catalan counterpart, as well as the Rare Diseases program at Fundacio Puigvert. She also coordinates ERKnet and XUEC at the center level.
