Yasumichi Arai

Dr. Yasumichi Arai is a geriatrician and a scientist in the study of healthy aging and longevity. He graduated from Keio University School of Medicine, and was trained in geriatric medicine (MD, PhD) at the Keio University Hospital (Tokyo, Japan). He was a visiting scientist of the Institute of Ageing and Health, Newcastle University, UK from 2004 to 2006. In April 2014, he became an assistant professor of Center for Supercentenarian Medical Research, Keio University School of Medicine. In April 2021, he was appointed a professor at Faculty of Nursing and Medical care and also a professor at Center for Supercentenarian Medical Research, Keio University. He has involved in the Tokyo Centenarians Study as well as Japanese Semi-supercentenarians Study, both of which aim to identify biomedical, behavioral, and social factors for health longevity.
